Overview
BubbleTax turns broker transaction data into tax calculations and ready-to-use tax reports. It handles the calculations and prepares the report content within its own platform, then sends the report’s HTML to PDFBolt’s /v1/direct endpoint. PDFBolt renders the document and returns the finished PDF in the same response.
The challenge
BubbleTax needed reliable PDF generation for its tax reports. Building a renderer in-house would have taken development time and left the team responsible for maintaining it alongside its own product.
“The most likely alternative would have been to build and operate the rendering layer ourselves, probably around a headless browser such as Chromium. Technically that is very doable, but it also means taking responsibility for browser updates, dependencies, rendering issues, scaling and monitoring – none of which is core to what BubbleTax does. Using PDFBolt allowed us to keep that part of the infrastructure deliberately simple.”

Why PDFBolt
BubbleTax chose PDFBolt to generate PDFs without having to operate its own rendering infrastructure. Because its reports contain financial data, the team also needed a provider that could meet its requirements for privacy and data handling.

PDFBolt's SLA includes a 99.9% monthly uptime commitment for its PDF generation API. The core PDF conversion infrastructure is hosted in Germany, and the DPA sets out how customer data submitted through the API is processed.
With /v1/direct, BubbleTax receives the finished PDF in the response without PDFBolt storing it for later retrieval. The prepared HTML is used to render the document and is not included in stored request logs once processing is complete, as described in PDFBolt's Privacy Policy.
The results
BubbleTax completed the integration in a few hours. With PDFBolt handling PDF rendering, the team can focus on its tax reporting product.
